What is freezing of gait? Freezing of gait (also commonly known as FOG) is the experience of a person's feet being stuck to the ground. It is the inability to take a step and stops the person from moving forward. It is one of the main causes of falls for people with Parkinson’s.
Freezing of gait is an intermittent problem and it occurs at the most inconvenient places like walking through doorways, stepping off escalators, stepping in front of people and so on. A person could be walking along quite normally but suddenly freeze on the spot and it would take several seconds to get moving again. These few seconds could sometimes feel like an eternity.

Most solutions to FOG are considered as tricks that fool the brain to break the freeze. In reality they are not really tricks but rather methods that do really break the freeze but because the problem is not understood clearly they are considered tricks because we don't know why they work.
This site offers an explanation of what actually causes FOG and gives a solution that directly solves that problem. So what is needed is a good undertanding of the normal gait cycle and what is disrupted to cause FOG.
Once we understand the problem correctly, the solution is rather simple.
